Just like you wouldn’t wear a winter coat in July, sticking to a winter skincare routine during the summer can do more harm than good.

Seriously!

Hot and cold weather affect your skin differently, demanding its own set of rules.

Here’s how you can tweak your routine for radiant summer skin:

The double cleanse:

Summertime means more outdoor fun.

More outdoor fun also means more exposure to dirt, oil, and pollution.

These can clog your pores and accelerate ageing if not cleaned properly.

Double cleansing is your best friend here; first, to remove makeup and surface oils, and second, to really get into those pores.

Start with an oil based cleanser followed by a water based one to ensure your face is perfectly pristine.

Exfoliate:

While winter calls for heavy duty exfoliation, summer asks for a lighter touch.

Opt for a gentle daily exfoliator to keep your skin smooth without over stripping it.

(this is something many people actually overlook)

It will help maintain a natural glow and support the skin's renewal process, keeping you looking fresh all season long.

Hydrate and protect:

Switch out those heavy creams for light, hydrating gels that don’t leave a sticky residue.

Apply a light moisturiser in the morning post cleanse.

And don’t forget to layer on SPF - it’s your skin's best defense against harmful UV rays.

At night, follow up your cleanse with the same light moisturiser or a rejuvenating serum to repair any daytime damage.

Time for a treat:

At the start or end of summer, consider treating yourself to a facial or peel.

It’s a GREAT way to refresh your skin and prepare it for the coming months.

Light Summer Dinner: Cucumber Melon Salad

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup diced cucumber

  • 1 cup diced watermelon

  • 1 tablespoon fresh mint, chopped

  • Handful of feta cheese

  • Juice of 1 lime

  • Pinch of salt

Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, combine cucumber, feta cheese, watermelon and mint.

  2. Squeeze lime juice over the top and sprinkle with a pinch of salt.

  3. Toss gently to combine and serve chilled.

This refreshing salad is great for hydration and giving your skin a little extra love during the warmer months <3
